Riot Games, Inc. is a West Los Angeles-based producer of Professional video game and eSports event manager. The roommates at the University of Southern California, Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill formed Riot Games in August 2006 to change the way video games are made. In February 2011, Riot Games’ share was purchased by Tencent and wholly bought in December 2015. Riot Games has 24 offices worldwide, with 2,500 workers as for May 2018.
Riot Games is best known as the Legends League, the online battle game arena (MOBA), and the flagship product of the organization. The game was first published in October 2009 and was the most popular player title in 2013. The game has been the world’s most successful Computer game and a key factor in exponential sport development. Since 2011, 2013, and 2015, both the Riot Games have been managing the World League of Legends Finals, the Series Championships, and the Invitational Midseason.
The creators of Riot Games, Brandon “Ryze” Beck, and Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill have become friends as they studied business at the University of Southern California, where they became buddies due to video games. Beck and Merrill were disappointed that game developers didn’t listen to people.
The authors, they claim, moved too quickly from game to game and left their loyal audiences behind. Beck and Merrill created an idea for business during their time playing video games together, and regularly added new features to their titles. Instead of adopting the computer gaming industry ‘s game-by-game launch plan, Beck and Merrill tried to create a player-centered business to grow continually developing software.
They were influenced by Asian video game designers who offered free play but charged for extra benefits. The creators thought it would be unethical to build a paying game, and they agreed that Riot Games wouldn’t offer patches for other matches. Additional advantages of comparison would include cosmetic improvements, such as new skins that have improved the look of the protagonists so players can customize their experience.
