Who doesn’t love an excellent pirate-themed game? Everyone loved the Sea of Thieves game that came out for the Xbox One and Windows PC. Unfortunately, the title was released only for those two systems, and others had to either purchase a PC or Xbox or watch others play it on Twitch. There really hasn’t been a good pirate-themed game accessible across all systems since Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Before then, there were only a handful of pirate-themed games people enjoyed, such as The Curse of Monkey Island or Sid Meier’s Pirates! Fortunately, Ubisoft has identified a need for another pirate-themed game across different platforms and will deliver with an upcoming video game: Skull & Bones.
What Is Skull & Bones?
Skull & Bones is coming from Ubisoft as the publisher but being developed by Ubisoft Singapore. This is a pirate-themed game that will focus more on ship-to-ship naval warfare than the individual player. There will be a single-player campaign and a play-versus-player mode where players can team up with others to clash on the open seas. Skull & Bones will release for the PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One with eventually upgrades to the next-generation systems. The game has undergone almost two years of delays before being pushed back even further to possibly 2022. It looks like we’re going to have to wait for a decent pirate-themed game, but will we have at least have some news at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward?
Will Skull & Bones Be At Ubisoft Forward?
Ubisoft Forward too stream on September 10th and promises to be a large event with many big games getting some serious announcements. Unfortunately, prospective pirate captains will have to wait to hear anything. Ubisoft did confirm that Skull & Bones, a pirate-themed game that’s been relatively quiet since its E3 2017 announcement, will not be at Ubisoft Forward.
