Since the eight installment (because we don’t know what to call it yet) of the Resident Evil series was announced, those lucky enough to not suffer from motion sickness have wanted to know whether or not the game will release for VR.
The game isn’t set to release until 2021, but that hasn’t stopped inquiring minds with the ability to inquire even deeper into the possibility of VR in Resident Evil Village.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Has VR Capability
Resident Evil 7 was one of the first major big-named horror titles for virtual reality. However, their VR was limited to the PlayStation 4. While Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is available for PC through platforms like Steam, it does not support VR there. It would make sense for Resident Evil Village to expand further than just PSV4, but they need to get over the issues from the last game.
Depending on how good your graphics card was for a computer, the Baker’s household was insanely creepy, but the visuals were dumbed down a bit to accommodate the PSVR on the PlayStation, so you’re not getting the same experience. Sometimes, it felt like we were walking around the mansion from the first Resident Evil with how badly the edges were tearing. Virtual reality is supposed to make us feel immersed in a game, but that wasn’t the experience we received with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
Will Resident Evil Village Have Virtual Reality?
While there’s no official confirmation, there’s no doubt Resident Evil Village will be VR-capable. Whether VR will extend beyond the PlayStation is still anyone’s guess, but some leaks have confirmed the possibility of virtual reality for the eighth Resident Evil game.
We’re hoping they improve the visuals, so Resident Evil Village’s virtual reality isn’t as painful as Biohazard’s.
Are you hoping Resident Evil 8 will have VR?
