Why Is The Sims 4: Journey To Batuu So Unpopular?

The Sims 4 is releasing an expansion based on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge found at Disneyland Parks. There are going to be familiar Star Wars features from lightsabers to droids. However, players will not just visit a theme park on a different part of the planet. They’re going to visit a whole different planet called Batuu. Not only will players get to visit a distant planet, but Star Wars: Journey To Batuu looks to be a story-driven expansion.

Yes, it’s not just going to be another “stuff pack” that only adds aesthetic items into the game. There’s going to be a story to the game. Players can choose to join the Resistance with Rey or join the First Order with Kylo Ren. Players can essentially choose to join the light side or the dark side. If you haven’t noticed already, Sims 4: Journey To Batuu will take place during the time of the most recent Star Wars movies.

Despite all the downloadable content available for the Sims 4, this expansion is only the second game pack to be a story-driven one besides Sims 4: Strangerville. As far as the story is concerned, there will be some repercussions to joining with either side. For example, doing missions for the First Order will make you an enemy of the Resistance and visa versa. There will be missions available to have players craft their first lightsaber to use. It makes sense for Electronic Arts, who has the rights to publish The Sims and Star Wars games to eventually cross them over at some point. However, not everyone was pleased with it. In fact, they are many Sims players who are annoyed with the announcement of a Star Wars expansion. All over social media, like Twitter, Sims 4 players are expressing their disappointment.

The problem is the Sims community has asked for so many different things over the years and feel as if they’re not being heard by the team over at the Sims. The Sims community has asked for things that were available in The Sims 3 but has not been seen yet in the Sims 4 like activities for children and teenagers. Others are complaining that the crossover just doesn’t make any kind of sense or is entirely out of place. Unfortunately, there’s plenty of discord among the Sims community between the handful of those excited and the angry Simmers who aren’t getting what they’ve been asking for since the Sims 4 was released.
