The Final Fantasy XIV Announcement Showcase on February 5th, 2021, showed off the trailer for the upcoming Endwalkers expansion. In the trailer, it showed one of the main characters, Alphinaud, on a new class. This class was later revealed to be the new healing class that will be introduced in Final Fantasy XIV’s 6.0: The Sage.

The Sage Will Introduce A New Healer Role
While we have had a “barrier” healer in the form of Scholar, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalkers will make a distinction between a pure healer and a barrier healer. For light parties, this shouldn’t make a difference. However, the distinction will come later in duty finder and raid finder. The assumption is an optimal setup will include one pure healer and one barrier healer.
How Does Sage Play?
In the reveal video for the Sage, there are flying aether-infused nouliths. The Sage will not be a pure healer, as evident in the video. The Sage will be a barrier-type healer that can heal on its own (we’re assuming for light parties) but excels more in barriers. We’re wondering if the barriers act as a stoneskin of old, or if they serve another purpose.
Where Will We Be Able To Unlock The Sage?
The Sage quest line will begin in Limsa Lominsa.
