World of Warcraft has been around for almost two decades now with virtually no signs of slowing down. One of the signs that World of Warcraft is still going strong is the fact that a major expansion is coming out later in 2020.

This will be World of Warcraft’s 8th expansion since releasing in 2004 and will take players to the afterlife, a place they haven’t been to in any of the previous expansions. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is going to bring some new features for players to experience. One of the major changes Blizzard is making with Shadowlands is reducing the level cap to 60. The previous cap was 120 during the last expansion, Battle for Azeroth. Leveling will be faster for newer players who want to do endgame content and enjoy the new expansion with veteran friends. However, a reduction in level cap and leveling changes aren’t the only changes coming to World of Warcraft.

Cataclysm, one of the previous World of Warcraft expansions, completely overhauled the game’s leveling system, which made the grind a lot less painful. However, since Cataclysm, there has been a handful of expansions that have added even more of a grind World of Warcraft that made it harder for new players to get caught up. Players will go through Exile’s Reach, which is basically a tutorial introduction to the game. Players wouldn’t need to go through many original areas as they would have had to in older expansions. It’s essentially going to be a funnel system, so newer players have an easier time getting to endgame.

Speaking of new players, there will be more customization options for new players who want to set themselves apart from other players. There will be a wider variety of human faces for those who wanted more representation for their skin tones or ethnic features. Not only will there be better customization options, but the Death Knight class will be available to every race, including Pandarians. This makes up for the fact that Shadowlands isn’t adding a new class.

There’s going to be whopping eight dungeons, and a new raid added to this expansion. There will also be an endless expansion added called Torghast. This dungeon will be a roguelike dungeon, meaning each instance will be randomized. It’s a fresh piece of content that World of Warcraft hasn’t seen in a long time.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, barring any delays, is slated to release on October 27th, 2020.
