Capcom has released a master list of Street Fighter 5 Champion Edition's content ahead

Street Fighter 5 is fast approaching its final season of content with season five on the horizon. Capcom recently announced a live stream that would reveal new characters are coming to the game as DLC.

Its live stream happened today, and players finally know which characters will be coming to the game. The broadcast announced that Dan, Rose, Oro, and Akira from the Rival School franchise would be coming to the game as DLC for Season 5.

Street Fighter 5 Latest Update

The game recently saw a massive update via Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition. While the game still has some technical issues that need to be resolved, the overall experience is an improvement for the base edition of the game.

In addition to the additional character abilities such as Double V abilities, it also included many balance and gameplay adjustments that Street Fighter 5 needed. Capcom has constantly been supporting the game with new updates and a growing roster.

Now, as revealed in a recent live stream, that roster will see an additional four new characters along with another update. It is a two-week free trial for players to participate and try (that we will discuss later).

The four new characters to be released during Season 5 are

  • Dan Hibiki from Street Fighter Alpha,
  • Rose from Street Fighter Alpha,
  • Oro from Street Fighter 3,
  • and Akira Kazama from Rival Schools: United By Fate.

Akira is a fascinating inclusion, as Rival Schools is not technically a Street Fighter game. Instead, it is in the same universe as Street Fighter.

The live stream also revealed the roadmap for Season 5, indicating when each character will launch. Dan comes out first and will be released sometime in the winter of 2020.

Then, Rose will be released sometime in the spring of 2021. Later, Oro and Akira will be released sometime in the summer of 2021.

Finally, a new undisclosed character is will launch in fall 2021. Additionally, new costumes and scenarios will be released with each wave of characters. While speculating, this DLC could possibly indicate that Street Fighter 6’s release time is still a long way off.

Regardless, fans will still have plenty to enjoy, learn, and master in Street Fighter 5 for quite some time as the Season 5 DLC is continuously developing in 2020 and 2021. However, it’s important to note that this will be Street Fighter 5 final season.

Therefore, the new content will likely stop after season 5 ends. Still, Street Fighter 5 has had an incredible career over the years.

Free Access Included

As anticipated during a press conference held between publishers of this Japanese fighting games, a free version of Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will be available from August 5. It will run for about two weeks and will feature all the characters in the game.

Street Fighter 5 took a different approach to updated releases than the series in the past. Rather than forcing players to purchase entirely new versions of the game, such as the Arcade or Championship editions, they are now available as free updates to existing owners.

It keeps the community together. The game has yet to come to Xbox One. However, it is available for PC, PS4, and Arcades.
