It is a fighting game developed by San Francisco-based game developer nWay with Power Rangers franchise characters. The software was digitally launched on March 26th, 2019 on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, on April 2nd, 2019, on September 24th, 2019 for PlayStation 4, and on Stadia on June 1 2020. On Switch and PlayStation 4 Limited Run Games launched a Premium Physical edition and a more premium Mega Version in November 2019.
The Power Rangers battle for the Grid has earned mixed feedback. It includes the praise of the game, as well as the critics of its design and the lack of material. IGN rated 6.8 in the game, appreciated the battle structures and brands’ mechanics, but criticized visuals, the lack of modes and characters. Kotaku ‘s Mike Fahey also questioned the update list but commended the openness of players on different levels of ability of battle mechanics.
Screen Rant lauded the game for utilizing Marvel vs Capcom, a machine combat gear when introducing additional functionality to assist movement. Critics also protested the absence of protagonists and the vague plot and addressed the reality that only four-series celebrities were present for a game marking 25 years of Power Rangers.
