This year, there will be no delivery of traditional WWE 2K, as 2K announced a few months ago. Instead, we can see wrestling from another point of view with WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

The franchise goes to the arcade to follow the line that the company has already done with sagas like NBA 2K. In the absence of just over a month for its launch, its managers have shown the game modes of this proposal that will bring a dose of madness to the ring.

WWE 2K Game Modes

Famous wrestling promoter Paul Heyman, who describes himself as WWE’s greatest supporter, was commissioned to introduce some of the modes and features that will lead to the WWE 2K Battlegrounds title.

These are various game modes that we will find in WWE 2K Battlegrounds:

1. Campaign Mode

It’s a single player fight shown by a comic. Here you are hiring WWE Superstars for competitions. “Join Steve Austin and Paul Heyman as they search across the world to identify the next WWE superstars.”
“Play as one of the seven latest superstars, such as Jessica Johnson or Bolo Reynolds as you journey through various regions fighting WWE superstars, hitting the targets and unlocking WWE superstars, items, and more,” would be the most comprehensive model of the game.

2. Exhibition Mode

Play with your mates or relatives, with up to four players online in some favorite game modes, including:

  • 1 vs 1
  • Tag team
  • Triple Threat
  • Steel Cage Fight
  • Fatal Four Way
  • Royal rumble

3. King of The Battleground mode

It’s a battle royal that’ll be influenced by the wrestling method. “Battle to be the last guy (or woman) while trying to knock off up to seven other players! The longer you stay on this ring, the better.”

4. Online Tournament Mode

You will fight online for rewards in limited-time tournaments that offer a wide variety of victory conditions.

5. Battleground Challenge Mode

From the bottom up, you’ll fight! Build the WWE Champion of your own and conquer all your adversities. Then we have a host of multiplayer modes. Whether you’re jumping into an 8-person Battlefield King or bringing your custom Superstar to the top of the card in Battlefield Challenge mode, there’s plenty to do.

WWE 2 K Battlegrounds produced by Saber Interactive and is rated PEGI+12. It is scheduled to launch worldwide for September 18, 2020, PlayStation © 4, Xbox One, including Xbox One X, Windows PC through Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.

This game, developed to replace the series of official WWE titles that rests this year, will offer us all the intense matches of wrestling in an arcade version. The game will include a roster of more than 70 Superstars, both current WWE Legends, and new Superstars will be added gradually from launch.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds launches September 18 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Check out the trailer below:

  1. As fun as this game looks, I got burned badly by WWE2K20 and there’s no way I’m pre-ordering this game until it’s been out for a few months. I still think WWE2K20 should have refunded the cost to anyone who bought 2K20 as it was a disaster. Anyone else agree?

    1. I don’t really agree, there were a lot of people that liked that game, my son included. I’m getting WWE 2K Battlegrounds for him for his bday, he’s probably going to love that too. 🙂

  2. I don’t like online play so I’m not sure how appealing WWE 2K Battlegrounds is for me. When I first saw the preview for this I hated this, but the game looks like it could be fun. I want a more realistic wrestling game but the 2K series is broke after WWE 2K20 so this might work until it’s fixed. If not, I may end up just waiting for the AEW game.

  3. Wow, even the fighting games are bringing some sort of battleground to the gameplay haha! Looks great, like it will bring few hours of fun, will it be cross platform? Having 70 superstars is a lot, can’t wait see which one they picked! OFC gonna play it on PC!
