Teaser trailer for new top-down horror RPG

Welcome to the Otherworld, a place with a color palette similar to Barney the dinosaur’s vomit. This is not an insult. This color scheme is normally used to convey a different world. That means they’re doing something right.

Omori Video Game Other World 001

The first thing you need to do once you get to the Otherworld is to talk to Mari. How she found her way to the Otherworld is beyond me. I know her picnic basket is supposed to be a “save point,” but she just teleports ahead of the party. I’m starting to form my own thoughts about her story without knowing too much yet, especially after the last scene with Basil.

Omori Video Game Smores Please 002

Right behind Mari is the mailbox shop that sells crazy expensive items. Well, crazy expensive to me, but maybe it’s because I wasted so much money on the rock that gave terrible advice to see everything it could tell me. Maybe it’s also because I didn’t do enough grinding for levels and clams. I’m still getting used to the battle system in Omori.

Omori Video Game Mr Duckie 003

I started doing what anyone does in a top-down RPG and bust into everyone’s home like that’s a completely normal thing to do in real life. Like, hey neighbor, I’m just here inspecting all your furniture and seeing if you have any side quests for me. I met with an NPC called Mr. Duckie, but I’ve zoomed in as far as I can with this screenshot, and nothing about them looks like a duck. If anything, they look like rabbits from far away. He gives you a side quest to find his son. (Wouldn’t you want to look for yourself instead of waiting for kids to come into your home so you can ask them to do it?)

Omori Video Game Centaur Smol 004

There’s a somewhat hilarious home you can enter with a small centaur named Smol, who really wants you to know how much of an award-winning centaur they are. Click on the trophies and awards to see.

Omori Video Game Welcome Snaley 005

If you walk east, you’ll come across the only asshole we’ve met in the game, and that’s coming from someone who put up with Berly, twice. I walked up to Snaley, who apologized for standing in my way, but instead of moving, they continued to stand there. What’s worse, is they actively move to get in your way if you try to go around.

Omori Video Game Do Moonwalk 006
Omori Video Game Disco Dancefloor 007

Continue East, and you’ll come across a small structure where Omori and the group can moonwalk on a disco dancefloor. We’re not sure what this accomplishes, but it’s fun to do for a minute, or two.

You’re not able to go into the door at the end of the room yet, so enjoy your Michael Jackson moment. Hee hee!
