August 8th was the tenth birthday of Momodora. Bombservice has celebrated it in the best possible way.
The company has revealed, via Twitter, that a new Momodora game is in development. It will be the fifth title in the franchise, after the first three and Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight.
The tweet takes us to a hidden YouTube video in which we see a mysterious one-minute teaser. At first, we see a moon appear and then red eyes.
After these two images, we see a couple of NPCs confirm the great news that a new Momodora game is in development. “Really? It can’t be, ”says one of them. However, the other makes it clear that it is true.
Momodora V Release Date
There is no official announcement about that yet. However, we believe that it will happen sometime next year.
Its first series debuted on PC in 2010. Since then, it added three more installments: two numbered sequels for PC in 2011 and 2014. In 2016, there was the launch of Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight
Bombservice went on to announce Momodora V. However, the team decided not to go ahead with it.
Apparently, fans did not like that the style of the game changed to three dimensions, and that led to the cancellation of the game.
After that, Bombservice went to work with another title, spiritual successor to the first Momodora. This game, called Minority.
It was released for PC on August 27th, 2019, and has “mostly positive” reviews on Steam. If you are console players and you are interested in this title, you will be happy to know that it will be released next September 10th for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
What Momodora Has To Offer?
Momodora is a 2D action-platformer saga with Metroidvania overtones. It is famous for the challenge of its video games.
The game has been very popular, and the last game in the franchise was also released for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If you want to know more about Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, we thought it was a great action and platform adventure.
It takes the best of the metroidvania classics we enjoyed in the 90s. The results? A great action-adventure and 2D platform that shines especially for the polish of its control system and its excellent setting.
Entering the dark world of Momodora is a pleasure that we cannot fail to recommend. The challenging action of this game will make you have a great time.
Momodora V must be the leap from the 2D saga to 3D by telling us the story of Momo. She is a priestess with the mission of curing a sacred tree and purifying her land.
It remains to be seen if this new game executes the plan of Momodora V or if it will be one more installment in the vein of the first four games in the saga.
