Phasmophobia has been around for almost a year now and ghost hunters everywhere have been waiting for Kinetic Games, the developer, to bring in more people. Now that the news broke that there are more people working on Phasmophobia, they added the more-than-obvious news that some major changes are coming to Phasmophobia.
When we say overhaul, we mean a major overhaul. This doesn’t mean there’s going to be minor changes to where the equipment is in the van, but a complete overhaul that includes leveling, equipment, progression, objectives, and so much more.
We will go into each one individually, but this is exciting news for those who have been waiting for major changes to Phasmophobia. Maybe the upcoming Ghost Hunters Corp is why the developers behind Phasmophobia have decided that it was time for a change. There’s nothing wrong with a little competition, after all.
Phasmophobia has undergone some minor changes over the past year. Before, it was too easy to find the ghost room simply by equipping players with the thermometer and having them find the room with the lowest temperature. Now, with the temperature changes in Phasmophobia, this is no longer a viable strategy. The ghost can now wander far from its room, which makes collecting evidence far more difficult. You could find ghost orbs in one room, and then find ghost writing in another. Then, when the ghost starts hunting, you could find yourself face-to-face with the ghost and nowhere to run.
Now that we know major changes are coming to Phasmophobia that will affect the game as we know it in its current state, let’s look at a preview of what’s to come. We will cover each one individually.
- General Changes
- Horror 2.0
- New Content Drop

Stay tuned for more information regarding the overhaul of Phasmophobia.
