Is The EMF Reader In Phasmophobia Bugged

Have you walked around the entire house in Phasmophobia, only to have your EMF reader not go off at all? The EMF reader in Phasmophobia, unlike the thermometer, needs to be almost exactly on the ghost’s position before it goes off.

If The EMF Goes Off, Does That Mean I’m In Danger?

Not necessarily. If the ghost is not actively hunting, the EMF going off means you’re near the ghost or near high levels of ghost activity. Even if the ghost is actively hunting, it may not trigger the EMF reader at all, but what if the EMF reader isn’t going off at all? Is it bugged?

Is The EMF Reader In Phasmophobia Bugged?

If you believe the EMF reader in Phasmophobia is bugged, there are a couple of things to look out for:

  • The EMF reader disappears completely when dropped.
  • The EMF reader disappears while the player is holding it.
  • The EMF reader beeps with only one light on.
  • The EMF reader never goes off at all.

You have to be careful when thinking the last point is a bug because sometimes players need to stir up ghost activity before there’s enough for an EMF reader to pick up.

Why Is The EMF Reader Bugged In Phasmophobia?

Keep in mind; Phasmophobia is still in its early access phase. That means there’s bound to be a bug or two that the developer still needs to iron out before the full release. If you believe your EMF reader is bugged, you can try:

  • Restarting your game.
  • Verify the game files through steam.
  • Check that you’re connected to the internet.
