When we played the new prison map with the unstable beta build of Phasmophobia, we were running into an issue: the flashlight would flash as if the ghost were hunting, even when it wasn’t.
This Both Confused And Scared Us
Not going to lie; every time the flashlight started flashing, we ran to the nearest cell. You are able to hide inside of the cells in the cell blocks on the prison map safely. While it is a ghost, it isn’t able to travel through metal bars, apparently (this claim is unconfirmed with wraiths).
Why Was The Flashlight Flashing When The Ghost Wasn’t Hunting?
Since the prison map is in the unstable beta build of Phasmophobia, we chalked it up to a simple bug. The prison map just came out today, and the developer was quick to squash a lot of different bugs reported by the community, but we’re not going to fault them for having a couple fall through the cracks.
When Does The Flashlight Normally Flash?
The intention of the flashlights (the normal flashlight, strong flashlight, and UV flashlight) is to light your way through dark areas (the UV flashlight is for locating fingerprints and footprints). However, their flashing mechanic was meant to indicate when the ghost is actively hunting. Even if the ghost simply manifests or shows non-dangerous activity, the flashlight doesn’t flash.
Chalk it up to a simple bug, for now.
