CD Projekt Red has revealed that its Cyberpunk 2077 video game will not be available on Google Stadia at launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably one of this year’s most anticipated releases and the game is set to release on PC, Xbox One X, and PS4 consoles in September. Although it was originally also slated to release on the Google Stadia streaming service, the development team have confirmed that the game will not be available on Stadia at launch and will instead come later.

According to IGN, the news was revealed in a press release discussing the upcoming advertising campaign fort he game. It reads: “Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on 17 September 2020 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. By the end of the year, the game will also make its debut on Google Stadia.”

However, other sites have reported that the original press release has now been deleted, sparking speculation that the news had been announced too early. The news comes a week after CD Projekt Red announced heir decision to postpone their Night City Wire stream in support of the Black Lives Matter protests. The stream was scheduled to take place on June 12th and showcase new gameplay and details of Cyberpunk 2077 but it has been delayed to June 25th.

CD Projekt Red announced the news in a tweet which reads: “We decided to move Night City Wire to June 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information about CP’77, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.”

Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the future Megacity of Night City in the Free State of California which is controlled by corporations. The RPG, first-person game follows V, a customisable mercenary, who is in search of a rare implant that offers complete immortality.

The video game features Keanu Reeves as character Johnny Silverhand and the game features a large open-world map comprised of six regions. Players can fully customise their character including genitals, acquire various skills to aid them throughout the game, and take on enemies with melee combat, ranged weapons, and other mechanics including hacking.

Cyberpunk’s Night City is a giant urban area plagued with homelessness where numerous organisations and gangs fight for power. Players will encounter these different factions throughout the game.

So far, the gangs that have been officially announced by CD Projekt Red include 6th Street, the Animals, Voodoo Boys, The Mox, Valentinos, Tiger Claws, Totentanz Club, all of which have their own motivations. It’s currently unknown whether there are any other gangs in the game.

It’s also been reported that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a multiplayer component but CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it will not be available until around April 2021. Still, we’ll have the main single-player game to enjoy!
