The only instance where we played Phasmophobia by ourselves was the initial training missions where we tested our mettle against a non-violent ghost. However, as we found out very quickly once we started teaming with other players, the ghosts in Phasmophobia can kill us really quickly if we’re not careful.
When we join a public game, we have to wait until we have four players to start the game. It can get annoying sometimes waiting for a game to fill because people jump in and leave if they don’t like the stage, the items, or don’t want to play with low-level people. This makes people wonder if you can play Phasmophobia by yourself.
I don’t know why you would want to, especially if you’re using VR (you don’t need VR to play Phasmophobia). Imagine exploring a large school on your own with no one outside in the truck to track your sanity, watch for movement on the cameras, or look for ghost orbs. Playing Phasmophobia alone is also very risky because once you’re dead, you’re dead. There’s no one else to finish the mission, there’s no one to talk to on the radio, you’re a dead body, and another ghost added to the stage. Walking around as a ghost is kind of cool in Phasmophobia, but it’s not very fun if no progress is being made to finish the level.
However, it is understandable why someone would want to play Phasmophobia alone and take that risk. It is one of the scariest games ever made, after all.
How To Play Phasmophobia By Yourself
It is possible to play Phasmophobia alone by following these steps:
- Launch Phasmophobia
- Walk to the whiteboard
- Select “Play” from the menu
- Select “Create Private” at the top
This creates a private lobby where you can select your items and your stage. You would have to click “Ready Up” before you’re able to select “Play” to start your solo adventure.
