Can Candles In Phasmophobia Protect Against Sanity Loss

Depending on the group you’re playing with, candles are either incredibly hilarious or incredibly underused. Some lobbies forget to bring them completely. We’ve been in several games where, after the setup phase, we go back to the truck to see no one has touched the candles at all. That’s why we’re here to make a case for the usefulness of candles.

Aren’t There Candles In The House?

Yes, there are candles on some of the maps. They can be lit with a lighter or another candle. However, the candles found on the maps themselves aren’t as bright as the truck candles.

Are The Candles Useful In Phasmophobia?

Yes, there are some interesting uses for the candles.

  • The candles are used as a decent indication that the ghost is nearby because ghosts can blow them out.
  • Players can make a decent “trail” of candles on larger maps for waypoints such as the Asylum or Brownstone High School.
  • Candles are a decent light source and can be activated by pressing F if a lighter is in the player’s inventory.

However, the best use of candles is what they can do for the player’s sanity levels.

Can Candles Reduce The Loss Of Sanity In Phasmophobia?

Yes, candles help reduce sanity loss. However, lit candles won’t stop sanity from dropping completely. These are especially useful for countering Mares’ sanity loss, who constantly turn off a location’s breaker. If the ghost room is smaller, having candles placed in the room will help combat sanity loss while players are collecting evidence.

Do you normally use candles in Phasmophobia?
