In the period where the TV series, The Walking Dead was in it’s heyday, the gaming scene was rife with zombie games. Some weren’t up to the AAA standard and were merely cashing in on a culture wave. However, some were excellent and blew us all away. Games like Left 4 Dead galvanised the co-op gaming genre and left a lasting mark on the zombie apocalypse genre too. Back 4 Blood, this game’s spiritual successor aims to follow in this game’s footsteps, galvanising the genre and bringing it back into the spotlight.
So with that in mind, we thought now would be as good a time as any to analyse the various Ridden that you will encounter throughout the game. So that you can get to know them and know how to handle them before you jump into the fray. In this guide we take a look at the Ridden Swarm Variant, the Jogger Swarm.
What is The Jogger Swarm in Back 4 Blood?
Ok, so first it is important to understand what a swarm spawn is. This is when a bunch of standard variant enemies are spawned into the level at once and usually, they will be immediately hostile and run for the player in formation. Imagine if a retch blows up on you and the swarm immediately comes for you as a result. Well, swarm spawns are naturally occurring instances like this.
Now, the jogger swarm specifically is a whole bunch of jogger standard variants which will come at the player as a pack. We don’t know much about joggers at the time of writing but what we would assume is that these will be slower versions of the sprinters. However, they will come at the player in larger numbers. So while there will be more time to react, there will be significantly more enemies to deal with and therefore a much bigger threat.
The best way to deal with this type of threat will be to use an explosive weapon or deal with these enemies via a vantage point with a powerful ranged weapon. If these enemies close the distance on you, it goes without saying that you’ll be in a world of danger.
So that is our enemy guide for the Back 4 Blood Ridden swarm variant, the Jogger Swarm. What do you make of this enemy? Do you think this will be the toughest of the lot? If not, which one do you think poses the biggest challenge? Let us known in the comments section below and as always, thank you for reading.
