IGN has today revealed the schedule for its upcoming Summer Of Gaming event for next month.
The event, which was announced back in April, will run from June 4th to 24th to fill the void left behind by E3, and it will include game announcements, trailers, game footage, and interviews from dozens of video game developers and publishers.
IGN’s Summer Of Gaming will also include three days of the IGN Expo where exclusive news and announcements will be made by developers between June 5th and 9th. The event will be available on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, and of course IGN’s official website.
Today (May 26th), IGN announced the official schedule for the event which includes announcements of seven new games, as well as new looks at games such as Mafia: Definitive Edition, Destroy All Humans, Observer: System Redux, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Wasteland 3, and more.
There will be previews of Borderlands 3’s DLC Bounty Of Blood and Gato Studios’ The Waylanders. If that’s not enough, there will be gameplay from Everspace 2, Iron Oath, Total War: Troy, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom, and additional games that haven’t yet been announced.
On top of all of that, the Summer Of Gaming event will include interviews with Chris Avellone, the writer of Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, John Romero, the creator of Doom, David Hayter, the original voice of Solid Snake, and plenty more.
Finally, there will be several charity streams including a Resident Evil 3 speedrun, a Fallout series speedrun, a Doom Eternal speedrun, a Bloodborne speedrun, and a special Animal Crossing stream where celebrities show off their special islands.
In today’s announcement, IGN stressed that its event is “evolving” and that new games and developers are constantly joining. What’s more, the gaming site stated that Arcade1Up, Blizzard, EA, Facebook/Oculus, Google Stadia, Square Enix, Ubisoft, and Xbox will all appear for the event too but have yet to confirm their dates.
Summer Game Fest
IGN’s event coincides with the Summer Game Fest with Geoff Keighley which runs between May and August 2020 and, like IGN’s Summer Of Gaming event, includes various game announcements and gameplay reveals.
Upcoming events include the Last Of Us Part 2 State Of Play tomorrow (Wednesday 26), the Steam Game Festival on between June 9th and 14th, EA Play Live and a special look at Cyberpunk 2077 on June 11th, a Developer Showcase for late June, a Ubisoft event in July, and Gamescom 2020 at the end of August.
Like with IGN’s event, the Summer Game Fest is constantly changing as new developers and games are announced. What’s more, Sony PlayStation will reportedly hold off an event in early June to announce additional details of the PS5 as well as a slew of games.
Microsoft is also set to host events during the Summer Game Fest for more information on its upcoming games and Xbox Series X console. Stay tuned for more.
